Recently, various automotive companies announced their new breakthrough electric vehicles combining moderate cost and impressive range. Typically, the market seems to prepare itself for a 35k$/€ car with at least 200 miles (300km) range. This would really make electric driving for many people an interesting option. I will update this page regularly with news concerning the 2018 models and also with some predictions about battery costs.

Tesla Model 3
The successful but expensive Tesla Model S is a game changer, and is shaking the automotive industry. This year the Model X (SUV) will hit the market, and the Model 3 will be the large quantities car expected in 2018. At the end of Q1 2016 the design concept is announced. Within one week Tesla receive more than 300,000 preorders! Tesla mentioned to make 500.000 cars after 2020, and is building its Gigafactory for batteries currently. This will push down costs of the batteries with about 30%, on top of the 8% cost reduction on average the last 5 years.
GM Bolt
This year GM showed their design of a 30k$ car (after the 7500$ tax incentive), with a range of 200 miles, to hit the market in 2017. See also http://www.chevrolet.com/culture/article/bolt-ev-concept-car.html

Leuk overzicht Maarten!
